In a market that is presently dominated by heatpipe tower coolers, the horizontally mounted fan may be the first feature that catches your eye. If not that, then maybe you'll notice that the fan measures a whopping 14cm in diameter, or that the there are twelve copper heatpipes taking heat from the base to the cooling fins.

There is a bunch of useful information provided, but the thing I am most interested in is the assertion that it is "completely silent". A 14cm fan should be able to move plenty of air while spinning slowly enough to be rather quiet, but we'll see if it can be operated in complete silence. The fan has a built in speed controller, and with a speed range of 1000-1600 RPM, I am hopeful to find a good balance of noise and cooling performance.

apanese PC cooling specialist Scythe has a new CPU cooler up its shelves: Zipang 2. The cooler-design comes across as an evolution of that of Scythe Kabuto, and consists of a base that doubles up as a heatsink. From here, arise six 6 mm copper heatpipes, that convey heat to six blocks of aluminum fins. It measures 145x149x106 mm, and weighs 715 g (around 1.57 lbs). The 140 mm fan spins at around 1000 rpm, and pushes 51.43 CFM of air, with a noise output of 22.74 dBA. The cooler supports all current sockets from Intel and AMD, including Intel LGA-1366, and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3. Its pricing and availability are yet to be disclosed.

Cooler Master Presents Core i5 Compatible Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler

Joining Arctic Cooling in the still select club of companies that have announced CPU coolers compatible with Intel's upcoming Core i7 (codename Lynnfield), Cooler Master has presented the 'Hyper TX3' to the world. Seen below, the upcoming heatbuster weights 470 grams, measures 90 x 51 x 139 mm, and features three copper heatpipes that reach out to the base in order to provide more efficient heat dissipation, an aluminum heatsink and one (two are supported) 92mm long life sleeve bearing fan which works between 800 and 2800 RPM (rotations per minute) and has a minimum sound output of 17 dBA.

The Hyper TX3 is compatible with Intel LGA 775/1156 and AMD Sockets 754/939/940/AM2/AM3 processors and is set to go on sale next month at $19.99.
