Nintendo در مراسم Treehouse خبر از عرضه کنسول جدیدش یعنی Switch در 3 مارس 2017 را داد. این کنسول در سه وضعیت قابل استفاده است. حالت اول با اتصال راحت به تلویزیون و حالت دوم با استفاده از تکیه گاه و حالت سوم به صورت سیار که در این حالت قدرت پردازش دستگاه کمی پایین تر از دوحالت دیگر خواهد بود. عمر باتری این کنسول حدود 3 تا 6 ساعت وابسته به بازی است. به طور مثال این دستگاه برای بازی Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild حدودا هر سه ساعت نیاز به شارژ خواهد داشت و همچنین بازی ذکر شده همزمان با عرضه این کنسول ارائه می شود. سایر عناوین معرفی شده برای این کنسول عبارتند از:

بخش چند نفره بازی ها نیاز به پرداخت هزینه برای دسترسی خواهد داشت. کنترلر های این کنسول که Joycon نام دارند قابل جداشدن از دستگاه هستند و این کنترلرها همراه با سنسورهای حرکتی اینفرارد و تکنولوژی HD Rumble برای ارائه بازخورد دقیق تر به بازیکن است. هر جفت کنترلر این کنسول با قیمت 70 دلار فروخته می شود و همراه با رنگ های مختلف خواهد بود. این کنسول مسلما از Amiibo ها نیز پشتیبانی می کند و قیمت آن در حال حاضر 300 دلار است.

شرکت نینتندو اعلام کرد که کنسول فعلی اش یعنی Switch تا 30 جوئن 2018 موفق شده تا بیش از 19 میلیون فروش داشته باشد و از آوریل 2018 تا مارس 2019 پیش بینی شده تا این رقم به 20 میلیون برسد. ده بازی زیر پرفروش ترین بازی این کنسول تا کنون بوده اند:
