خرس کوآلا (Only the registered members can see the link) جانوری گیاهخوار و کیسه‌دار و بومی استرالیا است. نزدیکترین جانور به کوآلا از نظر ظاهر وامبَت است. آن‌ها روزها بر روی شاخه‌های پهن اکالیپتوس می‌خوابند و بچه‌شان را هم آنجا به دنیا می‌آورند. کوالاها ۱۸ ساعت از شبانه روز را در خواب می‌گذرانند.
نام کوآلا به زبان بومی استرالیایی به «جانوری که آب نمی‌نوشد» تعبیر می‌شود؛ اشاره‌ای به آنکه کوالاها بسیار کم آب می‌نوشند.
