James Cameron's Avatar: The Game نام بازی ایست که قرار است نوامبر سال 2009 همزمان با اکران فیلم Avatar،جدیدترین فیلم جیمز کامرون،کارگردان نامی سینمای هالیوود و کارگردان فیلم هایی چون ترمیناتور 1 و 2،بیگانه ها و تایتانیک توسط کمپانی یوبی سافت انتشار یابد.قرار است بازی از همان تکنولوژی 3D فیلم استفاده کند.
از نکات جالب مربوط به Avatar این است که به گفته ی Jon Landau،تهیه کننده ی تایتانیک و Avatar،جیمز کامرون 14 سال پیش متن Avatar را نوشت اما به دلیل کمبودهای تکنیکی آن زمان تصمیم گرفت تا زمانیکه تکنولوژی تا آن حد پیشرفت کند که قدرت پردازش فیلمش را داشته باشد صبر کند.وقتی کامرون احساس کرد که زمانش رسیده تصمیم گرفت پروژه را به جریان بیاندازد.یکی از اولین کارهایی که او و Landau کردند این بود که به دنبال یک شریک در میان کمپانی های بازیسازی بگردند.

داستان Avatar در آینده می گذرد.فیلم روی زمین آغاز می شود و داستان Jake Sully را دنبال می کند.او که به مدت 20 سال در جنگ حضور داشت و یک کهنه کار است از کمر به پایین فلج شده است.او خودش را کسی معرفی می کند که همیشه می خواسته برای چیزی بجنگد اما هیبچوقت چییزی را نیافته که ارزش جنگیدن را داشته باشد.بالاخره او انگیزه اش را در سیاره ای دور دست به نام Pandora می یابد.این سیاره ی جنگلی و باشکوه خانه ی چیزهای شگرفی از قبیل کوهستان های غوطه ور در آسمان،موجودات شروری چون viper wolf و درختانی با ارتفاع 900 فوت ای است.به علاوه یک ماده ی معدنی فوق هادی باارزش به نام unobtanium است که هر انسش در حدود 20 میلیون دلار می ارزد!این ماده سبب می شود جنگی بین انسان های مهاجم و قبیله های بومی Na'vi دربگیرد. Na'viها موجوداتی آبی رنگ با 10 فوت بلندی قامت و دم دار هستند.
Jake داخل یک Avatar قرار داده شده است،موجودی هیبرید که می تواند هوای Pandora را استنشاق کند.خیلی طول نمی کشد که Jake عاشق یک Na'vi ماده می شود و همین سبب می شود که به مبارزه با انسان های هم نژادش برخیزد.

اما بازی Avatar در زمانی پیش از وقایع فیلم در Pandora می گذرد.داستان کاملاٌ جداگانه است هرچند که المان های فیلم و بازی مشترک اند.شما بازی را به عنوان یک نظامی (Resources Development Administration)RDA آغاز می کنید و در یک شوتر سوم شخص به مبارزه با Na'vi ها خواهید پرداخت و چنانچه تلویزیونی داشته باشید که قادر به نمایش آن باشد از کیفیت برجسته ی 3D آن لذت خواهید برد.البته به گفته ی یوبی سافت بازی روی هر تلویزیونی ظاهر خوبی خواهد داشت اما نکته ی اصلی بازی و فیلم جلوه های بصری 3D ای است که می تواند گیمر را در محیط بازی غوطه ور کند
