جیم جونز رهبر یک فرقه مذهبی است که با افکار پوچ و عقب افتاده خود جان مردم را به بازی گرفت. به طور کلی فرقه های مذهبی ایدئولوژیک همواره تلخ ترین صحنه ها را در تاریخ بشر ساخته اند و اکثر اوقات مایه ننگ تاریخ یک کشور بوده اند. جیمز جونز مردی از ایالت ایندیانا با دادن وعده برابری «سیاه» و «سفید» عده ای از مردم را به دنبال خود کشید. دو دلیل زیر بیشترین تاثیر را در اعتماد مردم به حرف های وی داشته است: 1 - دهه شصت و اوایل هفتاد اوج نژادپرستی های امریکا بود 2- مردم از توهمات و عواقب جنگ ویتنام خسته بودند. جونز هم مثل تمامی رهبران مذهبی ایدئولوژیک در جهان در بی هویتی و سردرگمی مردم, خود را مطرح کرد و از خود هویت ساخت و به عبارت دیگر از اب گل آلود ماهی گرفت و خود را عنوان کرد. وعده سرزمین موعود را داد و با سخنرانی در کلیسای خودش (موسوم به معبد مردم) و همین طور در کالیفرنیا تعداد زیادی از مردم را دور خود جمع کرد و حتی در یکی از سخنرانی هایش چنین گفت: "اگر وجود خدا را در من ببینید اشکالی ندارد" و از زاویه ی دیگر می توان چنین دید که کشیش جونز ادعای خدایی می کرده. در سخرانی های بعدی خود قدم های فراتری برداشت و عنوان کرد امریکا دیگر جای ماندن ما نیست و ما باید به سرزمین موعودی مهاجرت کنیم که نه دغدغه ی مالی داشته باشیم و نه از بمب اتمی بترسیم. و در نتیجه یک روز همه را به دور خود جمع کرد و فرمان هجرت داد, هجرت به عمق جنگل های گویانا (کشوری کوچک در امریکای جنوبی). بلافاصله بعد رفتن به جنگل های گوانا, شهر رویاهای خود و یا همان سرزمین موعود را ساخت و نامش را "جونز تاون" گذاشت . و شروع به فرستادن تصاویر ویدیویی گرفته شده از این شهر به امریکا کرد تا مردم بیشتری را به سمت خود بکشد. هنوز ده الی یازده ماه از ساخته شدن شهر نگذشته بود که گزارشاتی از "جونز تاون" به امریکا رسید که در آن نشان می داد کسانی که قصد خروج از شهر را دارند علاوه بر این که اجازه این کار را دریافت نمی کنند بلکه شکنجه هم می شوند و در ادامه این گزارشات بستگان کسانی که به گوانا رفته بودند دست به دامن مقامات سیاسی امریکا شدند. بعد از این تقاضاهای دسته جمعی دولت امریکا یک سناتور به نام "رایان" به همراه تعدادی از خبرنگاران را به "جونز تاون" فرستاد.

بعد از ورود بی سر و صدای رایان و همراهانش به این شهر عده ا ی نزد رایان رفتند تا مقدمات فرارشان را فراهم کند که این خبر به گوش جونز رسید و بلافاصله دستور قتل آن ها را داد (رایان, خبرنگاران و مراجعه کنندگان به سناتور). سی دقیقه بعد این کشته شدن ها، جونز مردم را جمع کرد و اینچنین گفت: «اول کودکان و بعد خودتان سیانور بخورید تا با هم بمیریم». یک الی دو ساعت بعد از شهر رویاهای جونز 1900 جنازه باقی مانده بود.

این ایده ی جالب هم قدمت زیادی داره مثل مایکروویو که الان تو همه ی خونه ها هست و در جنگ جهانی دوم اختراع شد توسط آلمانها؛ به راستی که این جنگ نقطه ی عطفی در پیشرفت بشر است.
این تصویر را میتونید در برخی از فیلم های James Bond هم ببینید.

هیتلر در پایان جنگ بسیاری از کودکان را هم به میدان جنگ روانه کرد، مثال این واقعه در یکی از Crusade ها رخ داد. عامل یکی از جنگهای صلیبی کودکان یتیم تحریک شده ای بودندکه از فرانسه به سرزمین مسلمین آمدند.
به گفته ی کارل مارکس: "تاریخ تکرار می شود، بار اول کمدی و بار دوم تراژدی."

جمله معروفی هست که می‌گوید: «یک تصویر ارزشمندتر از هزاران کلمه است».
ولی من باید با این جمله هم مخالفت کنم. چرا که به نظر من ارزش یک عکس خیلی بیشتر از این توصیفات است. شاید من خیلی آدم متعصبی باشم، اما هر زمان که به عکسهای جنگ جهانی نگاه می‌کنم، ذهنم شروع به آنالیز کردن جزئیات بسیار ریز این عکسها می‌کند.
پس از این عکسها لذت ببرید! اینها از اداره NARA (یعنی اداره اسناد و بایگانی ملی) گرفته شدند.
1. بر فراز اهرام، مصر

هواپیمای نظامی بر فراز اهرام مصر پرواز می‌کند. این هواپیما یکی هواپیماهای تندروی امریکا بوده و درحالیکه برای جنگ فوری آماده و بارگیری می‌شده و از اقیانوس اطلس و برخی نواحی آفریقا می‌گذشته تا به مناطق جنگی استراتژیک برسد. سال 1943.
2. رسیدن به فرانسه در روز شروع عملیات

این سربازان آمریکایی درحالیکه قایقشان که نقش نگهبان برایشان دارد را ترک می‌کنند در ساحل فرانسه زیر مسلسل‌ها و تیربارانهای سنگین نازی کاری به روی ساحل می‌آیند. تاثیرگذاری صحنه بین ابرها و شنهای ساحلی فوق العاده است. رابرت اف. سارجنت. 6 ژوئن 1944.
