EA Sports president Peter Moore confirmed on his blog (Only the registered members can see the link) this week that the next iteration of the popular NFL game franchise Madden won't be coming to the PC (Only the registered members can see the link iness+Challenges/article11355.htm), adding that the company is aware that the decision could be an unpopular one "in some circles" but nevertheless they are seeing more and more the trend of gamers preferring consoles for playing sports games.
The decision does not come as a surprise, and it's our opinion it doesn't necessarily reflect on the so-called "death" of PC gaming. As a primarily PC publication, we have to agree with Mr. Moore in that sports games like Madden are better suited to the couch and big screen TV, while there are other sports titles and game genres that are still a good fit for the PC.
Moore also added: "We do have ideas for how to revitalize the PC for sports games and the types of games that are best suited to the platform, and we’ll continue to explore those."
